Taking the rise out of Easter

Two things strike me as odd about this sign outside a church in Itchy Ankle.

First, and most importantly, aren’t the Methodists meant to be shouting about something rather more meaningful than candy as Easter approaches?

Second, is the use of the word Yea! I am inclined to assume they mean Yay! as in “oh wow, great news!” rather than Yea as in “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death”.

My Sunday School teacher, the fabled Mr. Lemon, always said Yea in the bible meant and or also. Mind you, he also (yea) said there would be Methodists in Heaven and this was something we would just have to get used to. Now I am not so sure…
